The Harris Global Peace Movement (HGPM)

Why I Am Championing the HGPM – Basil Odilim

I am championing the Harris Global Peace Movement (HGPM) because, although it may seem idealistic, it represents the most honest and effective approach to creating a truly peaceful world. I am deeply weary of living in a world plagued by war, violence, and exploitation. It’s time to bring all conflicts to an end, starting with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which has endured for far too long.

HGPM envisions establishing a global body dedicated to resolving even the most complex conflicts, ensuring that every resolution is win-win, regardless of the intricacy of the issues involved. This institution would operate on the unwavering belief that peace is non-negotiable and that every conflict, no matter its historical or geopolitical roots, deserves a solution that respects the dignity and aspirations of all parties.

My vision extends beyond conflict resolution. I aspire to a world where peace prevails, where compassion guides our actions, and where the greedy elite, who exploit unethical means to siphon resources from the people, are no longer empowered. I dream of a time when people, including Africans, can thrive in their own countries, earning a decent living without the constant threat of exploitation and plundering by both local and foreign collaborators.

Corruption must be tackled with robust global anti-corruption measures, including the establishment of international anti-corruption courts that ensure justice transcends borders and holds corrupt individuals accountable, regardless of their location.

Economic conflicts should no longer be zero-sum games among nations. Instead, they must be resolved transparently and equitably, ensuring win-win outcomes that benefit all involved. Such resolutions are crucial for harnessing the potential of the world’s most gifted individuals to serve humanity effectively.

By fostering cooperation rather than competition, we can unlock the creativity and innovation needed to address global challenges, including exploring and colonizing other habitable planets.

In addition, the HGPM advocates for replacing military forces with an International Peace Corps, promoting peace and development rather than conflict. A truly free market should exist—one that encourages and actively promotes development globally. Industrial complexes should arise wherever people have the capacity and will to create them, free from outdated economic and political barriers.

Religion must be kept as a deeply personal and private matter, not used as a tool for political manipulation. The global mobility of ideas and wealth should flow freely, fostering innovation and prosperity for all while respecting local rules and laws.

To complement these efforts, integrating global environmental management with a carbon taxation infrastructure is essential. A carbon tax would create financial incentives to reduce carbon footprints, generate revenue for renewable energy projects, and support conservation efforts. A well-designed global carbon taxation system must be fair and encourage active participation from all nations, while revenue should aid developing countries in transitioning to cleaner energy sources and adapting to climate impacts.

Moreover, all diseases must have medical solutions because the world should support and encourage those seeking to find these solutions. By prioritizing innovation in medical research and treatment, investing in resources for scientists and healthcare professionals, and creating incentives for breakthroughs, we can address the myriad health challenges that affect humanity. This commitment not only improves individual health outcomes but also strengthens global health security and promotes a more equitable world where everyone has access to life-saving treatments.

Furthermore, human resources must be well managed to benefit all generations, especially future ones. Effective management of human resources involves investing in education, fostering skills development, and ensuring that opportunities for growth are available to all. This approach ensures that each generation is equipped to contribute to and benefit from a thriving global society, while future generations inherit a world where their potential can be fully realized.

Finally, HGPM envisions a world where nationalism and divisive tendencies are discouraged, fostering a seamless flow of people, goods, and services that uplift humanity. This movement is a call to action to build a world where peace, justice, and mutual respect are foundational. Despite its idealistic nature, I believe the HGPM is the only path to a brighter, more harmonious future for all.
